The llama (Lama glama) is a South American species of camel. Llamas have been farmed for meat and draught by Andean cultures since pre-Columbian times. A fully grown llama can stand 1.7 to 1.8 m (5.5 to 6.0 ft) tall and weigh 130 to 200 kg (280 to 450 lb).
